I had them actually destroy my os and damage drive sectors, making it necessary to format and reload a different version. And yes, it was the %/!¿!! up-date... Also avoid the gaurenteed version checker, nothing but trouble because eventually it won't recognise an up-date and then you'll be nagged to death untill your os becomes unusable.
